Kidman Archers is holding a handicap tournament on 10 April to remember and honour the life of John Burton.
John was a founding member (and Life Member) of the Club, and a Life Member of ARCHERY SA.
Actively involved in archery from the 1950s, he held various positions in nearly every year within Kidman Archers, including President.
John was always an interested and passionate supporter of promoting the sport. He was a National Judge for 15 years, Editor of ARCHERY SA’s The Bow Press in its early days and was ARCHERY SA President for 6 years. John was one of the pioneers who made archery in SA what it is today. He was also ARCHERY SA’s inaugural (part-time) CEO, when the office was based at Sturt Street, Adelaide.
He received an Archery Australia Bronze Plaquette Award in 1989, being recognised for his significant service to archery and SA.
