Thus, under the normal eligibility criteria, the cut-off for the the 2013 Tyro Tournament would be 18 months previous (if the event was to be on 31 May, 2013 – the start date for eligibility would be 30 November, 2011). As the event has been changed, in line with the shooting program review, the event is now 29 September and the eligibility start date would be 29 March, 2012. For those persons who started in archery in February or March, 2012, the attendance at the 2012 Tyro Tournament would probably have been considered a little ambitious, but they would have had the chance to shoot in the May, 2013 event. However, with the date change, these people potentially miss out. The Executive of ARCHERY SA has decided to extend the eligibility start date back to 30 November, 2011 for this year only. It is hoped this will help provide a boost of interest among those who thought they might have missed out through this quirk of the program changes. (Entries for the Tyro Tournament and the AJ Barter Veterans’ Tournament open on 1 August)
