South Australian Archers Denied Chance to Shine

Four South Australian archers (Anna T EFA, Brock P AAC, Josh T EFA, & Ryan B SVAC) selected as part of the Australian Team to the 2025 World Youth Archery Championships in Winnipeg, Canada, have been denied travel to the event because of industrial action and the inability of Air Canada to recognise it should have paid its employees appropriately.

ARCHERY SA is profoundly saddened that these archers cannot realise their dreams, and out thoughts are particularly with Anna, Josh and Ryan who will be ineligible by age to participate in the next World Youth Archery Championships in 2027.

We all feel their pain and wish there was something that could be done, but even with the best efforts of Archery Australia, alternate travel arrangements that would get them to the event before the delayed start of the Championships could not be sorted.

“Not happy Jan.”

It is a small consolation that there will be other opportunities… but selection in a National Team to a World Championships is not a given.

Three SA archers made it to the event, having left Australia a few days earlier: Harry Knox AAC, James Azli AAC, & Lily Azli AAC.
