AGE CLASSES


Effective 1 January, 2024

(until 31 December, 2024):

** If you were born in 2013 or later, your class (ARCHERY SA State Target Championships only) is Under 12

** If you were born in 2011 or later, your class is Under 14

** If you were born in 2009 or 2010, your class is Under 16

** If you were born in 2007 or 2008, your class is Under 18

** If you were born in 2004, 2005 or 2006, your class is Under 21

** If you were born in any of the years from 1975 to 2003, your class is Open Age

** If you were born in any of the years from 1965 to 1974, your class is 50+

** If you were born in any of the years from 1955 to 1964, your class is 60+

** If you were born in 1954, or earlier, your class is 70+


The Classes are defined as follows

Under 14 CLASS
Athletes may participate in the Under 14 Class in tournaments when the competition takes place up to and in the year of their 13th birthday. Alternatively, an Under 14 athlete is entitled to participate in the Under 16, Under 18, Under 21 or Open Age Class.

Under 16 CLASS
Athletes may participate in the Under 16 Class in tournaments when the competition takes place up to and in the year of their 15th birthday. Alternatively, an Intermediate athlete is entitled to participate in the Under 18, Under 21 or Open Age Class.

Under 18 CLASS
Athletes may participate in the Cadet Class in tournaments when the competition takes place up to and in the year of their 17th birthday. Alternatively, an Under 18  athlete is entitled to participate in the Under 21 or Open Age Class.

Under 21 CLASS
Athletes may participate in the Under 21 Class in tournaments when the competition takes place up to and in the year of their 20th birthday. Alternatively, an Under 21 athlete is entitled to participate in the Open Age Class.

50+ CLASS
Athletes may participate in the 50+ Class in tournaments when the competition takes place in the year of his or her 50th birthday and up to the year of their 60th birthday. Alternatively, a 50+ athlete is entitled to participate in the Open Age Class.

60+ CLASS
Athletes may participate in the 60+ Class in tournaments when the competition takes place in the year of their 60th birthday and up to the year of his or her 70th birthday. Alternatively, a 60+ athlete is entitled to participate in the 50+ or Open Age Class.

70+ CLASS
Athletes may participate in the 70+ Class in tournaments when the competition takes place in the year of their 70th birthday and over. Alternatively, a 70+ athlete is entitled to participate in the 60+, 50+ or Open Age Class.


Note:

An archer in….

  • Youth age class may choose to shoot in an older age class (other than 50+, 60+ or 70+)
  • a 50+, 60+ or 70+ class may choose to shoot in a younger age class (other than the Youth classes)
  • any age class may choose to shoot in the Open Age class

provided the age class in which the archer intends to participate is clearly indicated on the tournament entry.
